The Dhaka University (DU) authorities will resume conducting coronavirus (Covid-19) tests at its own laboratory from today (Tuesday).

Prof Sharif Akhterruzzaman, convener of DU coronavirus response technical committee, confirmed the matter and also said the university will bear the cost of Covid-19 tests.

He further said, "Considering the current situation of the country, we have decided to resume it and the ministry of health also requested us to do so."

The ministry of health will provide testing kits and personal protective equipment (PPEs) while the DU authorities will bear the other expenses, said Prof Sharif.

The testing will be conducted at the lab set up in Centre for Advanced Research at Social Sciences Faculty building.
