DSCC Mayor talks tough on piling WASA garbage

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh on Sunday warned Dhaka WASA of penalising the authorities along with taking legal action if they pile up garbage after cleaning the sewerage lines.

He also assured the citizens that all the sewerage lines of each ward will be cleaned two times a month.

“I request the DWASA that you should not pile up the trash after cleaning the sewerage lines on the roads. I will penalise you if you do so and take legal action against you,” said the mayor.

He was addressing at ward 22 near Muktijoddha Sangsad after inaugurating a year-long sewerage cleaning programme.

He said that this cleaning drive is not for a short period rather it is a continuous process.

He called upon the citizens to remain aware of receiving services.

“I have noticed that waterlogging is created at this point as the drains and sewerage lines get filled up with wastes. If you notice, there is garbage stuck up at any point or being spilled over creating waterlogging, inform the city corporation via councillor. If the problem is not solved then directly inform me,” he said.

Earlier, Mayor Taposh inaugurated year-long sewerage line cleaning programme at Aga Sadek Road of ward 33.
