The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) authorities demolished on Sunday over fifty makeshift structures illegally built on the footpaths.
Restaurants, tea stalls and rickshaw garages were among the temporary structures that were dismantled by the corporation's drive.
The Executive Magistrate of DSCC AH Irfanuddin Ahmed carried out the drive against the structures that were built on the footpaths in front of National Sports Council located in Purana Paltan area.
He told the media that those structures had been hampering smooth movement of pedestrians on footpaths for a long time.
He said that as per the directives of the mayor, the drive against illegal makeshift structures would continue.
