A drug addict was beaten to death by a drug trader over trivial matter at Digha village in Ishwardi upazila in Pabna on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Eir Ali, 50, son of late Rabbel Ali of the same village.
Additional Superintendent of Police Goutam Kumar Biswas said listed drug trader Rony Hossain of the village, called the drug addict Eir Ali but he rebuked him.
At one stage, agitated Rony started beating him with a jackfruit tree's branch, leaving him dead on the spot, UNB reported.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
A case will be filed in this connection, the officer added.
