Dr Kamal Hossain, the leader of the Jatiya Oikyafront opposition alliance, will not attend a planned public meeting in Rajshahi due to a high fever.

“However, he is keeping in close contact with the leadership,” said Jatiya Oikya Front Media Coordinator Lutful Kabir Hamim on Friday morning.

The Jatiya Oikyafront leaders have left Dhaka for the programme, he said.

“Many arrived at Rajshahi last night,” Lutful Kabir Hamim said.

The programme, to be held at the Rajshahi Madrasa Field, will press for the seven-point list of demands made by the Oikya Front. It is the fourth rally held by the alliance, bdnews24.com reported.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be the chief speaker at the event. He and members of the BNP Standing Committee left for Rajshahi aboard a plane at 10:00 am.

Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP President Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul will host the event.
