A domestic flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday afternoon after a front tyre was damaged.

Biman General Manager (Public Relations) Shakil Meraj said soon after it took off from MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet carrying 61 passengers, the pilot of the Dhaka-bound flight noticed that one of the front tyres was damaged, reports UNB.

The flight made the emergency landing at the Dhaka airport safely around 4:10 pm, he said.

Meraj also said all the passengers and the pilot along with his crewmembers disembarked from the aircraft unharmed.

Controller of Osmani International Airport AKM Anisuzzaman Talukder said there was a big bang soon after the takeoff of the flight. Later, a part of a tyre was found on the runway, he said, adding that the tyre might have burst.

The matter was informed to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport through the control tower and a special arrangement was in place at the airport to face the situation, said an official at the security section of the Sylhet airport wishing anonymity.
