The Department of Environment (DoE) on Sunday fined seven factories Tk 4.3 million for polluting the environment in Savar and Gazipur.
Following hearing at the DoE headquarters in Dhaka, its Director (Monitoring and Enforcement) slapped the fine on the factories on different charges, said a DoE handout.
The factories -- two in Savar and five in Gazipur -- were harming the environment and ecology by releasing untreated liquid effluents.
According to UNB, the factories were set up and being run without taking environmental clearance and permission, the handout added.
