Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday removed around 1,090 illegal billboards and banners in the capital’s Uttara area on the second day of the drive.
The evicted billboards were sold at auction for Tk 25,250, while Tk 229,000 was realised by fining different institutions through the mobile courts.
Five magistrates of the DNCC conducted the drives in different areas of Uttara against erecting illegal billboards and keeping construction materials on roads and footpaths unlawfully.
On the first day of the drive, which began on Sunday, the DNCC mobile courts evicted some 900 billboards in Uttara.
A total of 16 cases were lodged and Tk 191,000 was realised as fine during the drives.
The DNCC will continue such campaigns against illegal billboards in the coming days.
