Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has formed 10 building inspection teams aiming to inspect fire safety measures at buildings and raise awareness among people.

A regional executive officer for each region in the DNCC areas will lead two teams.

The teams will inspect fire safety measure of high-rises through a prepared checklist.  They will also hang a sticker writing ‘Remain Alert’ at the entrances of the buildings if they find insufficient and poor fire security measures.

They will also ask the concerned owners of the buildings to act promptly and take necessary steps regarding the issue.

The decision was taken at a meeting, chaired by DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam,  at DNCC headquarters on Thursday.

The mayor will formally inaugurate the activities of the monitoring team on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the mayor urged all to work together to protect the city from any kind of risks, especially from fire.

Every team will consist of 10 to 15 members comprising officials of DNCC, Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, representatives from private organisations and members from different communities.
