Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday found Aedes larvae in 94 houses and establishments in Dhaka city during the first day of its 10-day combing operation and fined them Tk 290,000.
A DNCC team visited at least 13,825 houses and establishments in 54 wards during the drive and found Aedes mosquito larvae, carrier of dengue and chikungunya, in 94 of those.
Of them, the larvae of Aedes mosquito were found in the 94 houses and establishments. The DNCC's executive magistrates fined the amount in 16 cases.
The drive will run from 9:00am to 12:00pm every day except Friday, dividing a ward into 10 sectors and each sector into 10 sub-sectors, according to the DNCC officials.
The operation will cover all DNCC areas, they added.
The city corporation had conducted such drives in three phases from May 16-24, June 6-14 and August 8-20 this year.
