DNCC evicts 100 illegal establishments in the city

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday conducted an eviction drive, from 11:00am to 2:00 pm, in the city to remove illegal establishments.

A team, led by DNCC Executive Magistrate Mohammad Sajid Anowar, conducted the drive and mobile court at Sher-E- Bangla Nagar area and evicted at least 100 illegal makeshift structures, said an official.

Illegal structures like tin-shed buildings, ramps, stairs and other establishments, which were built on the pavement, were evicted on Janata Tower road in the area, said DNCC Public Relations Officer A S M Mamun.

Nearly 15,000 square feet of area was freed from illegal occupation and opened for the people for movement, said Mamun.

Mir Nahid Ahsan, Zonal Executive Officer (Deputy Secretary), Zone -5 (Karwan Bazar), among others, was present during the drive.

The drives will continue to dismantle the illegal establishments from the city, he added.
