Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Wednesday conducted a mobile court drive against illegal advertising of tobacco products in several areas of the capital city.
Zonal Executive Officer of DNCC, Zone-5 (Deputy Secretary) and Executive Magistrate Mir Nahid Ahsan led the drive and destroyed cigarette showcases in Agargaon, Sher-e Bangla Nagar, Shyamoli, and Rayer Bazar area.
The mobile court also fined two stores Tk 6,000 in this connection.
According to the Tobacco Control Act, advertisement of all types of tobacco products is prohibited in point of sale.
The executive magistrate also destroyed 20 small and big points of sale display during the drive.
Assistant Inspector of Zone-5 of DNCC Md Abdul Khalek Majumder and officer of Tobacco Control Project of Dhaka Ahsania Mission were present during the operation of the mobile court.
