DNCC ‘combing operation’ continues for second day

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), in separate drives on Monday, found Aedes larvae in 298 houses and establishments during their second day of its ‘10-day combing operation’.

Apart from this, different DNCC teams found favourable Aedes breeding ground or stagnant water in 5,013 houses and establishments in the city.

Earlier, DNCC launched a '10-day combing operation' on Sunday to prevent breeding of Aedes mosquitoes in the wake of dengue outbreak.

DNCC Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Md Atiqul Islam visited at the city’s Mohammadpur area to monitor the combing operation.

Under the campaign, the DNCC teams visited10, 720 houses and establishments in all 36 wards of the DNCC area.

Under the 10-day campaign, the DNCC teams were divided in 10 blocks of every ward and 10 sub-blocks of each block. The teams involved the locals to facilitate the campaign.

Last week, educationist Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed in presence of DNCC Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Md Atiqul Islam inaugurated the campaign titled 'Ward-wise Aedes mosquito breeding source destruction and cleanliness campaign' on Tuesday.

Following the campaign, a team of DNCC led by Executive Magistrate Sazid Anwar conducted mobile court in Gulshan area on Monday.

The team fined two organisations Tk 350,000 after it detected Aedes mosquito larvae in its establishment.

In Gulshan and Shajazpur, another mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Mir Nahid Ahsan fined Tk 200,000 to two separate organisations.
