The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday realised over Tk 3.65 million in fines from traffic offenders.
In a simultaneous drive on the city streets conducted on the day, the DMP filed a total of 4,866 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violations, according to DMP data.
Of the cases, 939 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 99 for using hydraulic horn, 12 for using hooter and beacon light, and 22 others for using tinted glass
Police also filed 1,890 cases against motorcycles and seized 85 others for violating traffic rules. It also filed cases against 27 bikers for using mobile phones while driving.
Apart from this, the DMP dumped 41 vehicles and wrecked 773 others during the drive.
