Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday realised Tk 2.842million in fines from traffic offenders in the city.
Besides, a total of 4,792 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, DMP said in a statement.
Of the cases, 882 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 68 for using hydraulic horns, seven for using hooters and beacon lights, and 12 others for using tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 2,075 cases and seized 168 motorcycles.
A total of 15 motorcyclists faced cases for using mobile phones while driving.
Apart from this, the traffic police also dumped 22 vehicles and wrecked 785 others during the drive.
