Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a special anti-drug drive arrested 55 suspects from different areas of Dhaka city for selling and consuming illegal drugs.
A special team of DMP, comprising Detective Branch (DB) of police and other law officials, launched the drive in various places of the capital and recovered 606 pieces of yaba tablets, 591 grams heroin, 1.41 kilograms cannabis, five bottles of phensedyl syrup and 10 injections used in drug consumption, according to a DMP statement.
A total of 40 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.
The operation began at 6:00 am on Monday and ended at 6:00 am on Tuesday, the statement added.
