Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) realised Tk 2.9 million in fines from traffic offenders on Sunday.
A total of 5,661 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, DMP said in a statement on Monday.
Of the total cases, 979 were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 112 for using hydraulic horns, 6 for using hooters and beacon lights, and 15 others for using tinted glasses.
The division also filed 2,249 cases against motorcyclists and seized 117 motorbikes, the statement added.
Besides, 18 motorcyclists faced charges for using mobile phones while riding.
The traffic police dumped 21 vehicles and wrecked 710 others during the day-long drive.
