The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) realised over Tk 2.792 million in fines from traffic offenders on Saturday.
In simultaneous drives on the city streets conducted on the day, the DMP filed a total of 4,453 cases against different modes of vehicles over the traffic rule violations, according to DMP data.
Of the cases, 850 were lodged for wrong side driving, 99 for using hydraulic horns, seven for using hooters and beacon lights, and 18 others for using tinted glasses.
Police also filed 1,891 cases against motorcycles and seized 109 others for the violations. Traffic officers also filed cases against 16 bikers for using mobile phones while riding.
In addition, the DMP dumped six vehicles and wrecked 681 others during the drive.
