Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a day-long drive filed a total of 3,841 cases against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules on Saturday.
The department also realised Tk 1.9 million in fines from the traffic offenders in different parts of Dhaka city, DMP said in a statement.
Of the cases, 767 were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 78 for using hydraulic horns, eight for using hooters and beacon lights, and 11 others for installing tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 1,163 cases and seized 121 motorcycles.
Besides, a total of 24 motorcyclists faced charges for using mobile phones while driving.
In addition, the traffic police dumped 20 vehicles and wrecked 708 others.
