DMP files 1,980 cases over violating traffic rules

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a daylong drive on Friday filed 1,980 cases on charges of traffic rule violation.

Traffic division in their simultaneous drives on the city streets also realised over Tk 550,000 as fine, said an official release.

As many as 145 cases were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 28 other cases for using hydraulic horn, four for using hotter and beckon light and three others for using tinted glass.

Some 38 cases, including 25 video cases, were lodged against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while they were driving.

It also dumped 17 vehicles and wrecked 243 others, reports BSS.

Besides, 429 cases were lodged against motorcycles and 74 other motorbikes were seized for the violations.
