The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 53 from the city in a regular anti-narcotics drive for selling and consuming illegal drugs.
Different police stations under DMP conducted the drive and arrested the suspected offenders from different areas of the capital in the last 24 hours ending at 6:00am on Monday.
They also seized 1295 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, 344 grams of heroin, 160 grams of cannabis, 54 bottles of phensedyl syrup, among other drug items, according to a DMP statement.
A total of 38 cases were filed under the Narcotic Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.
