The Election Commission (EC) will begin distribution of smart card at district level from the first week of the next month.
"In the first phase, the distribution of smart cards programme will be held at 31 districts," Director General of NID Registration Wing of EC Mohammad Saidul Islam told journalists at his office on Tuesday.
The cards will be distributed at Dhaka Circle Union, Narayanganj Bandar, Paba of Rajshahi, Anwara of Chittagong, Panchagar Sadar, Joypurhat Sadar, Bogra Sadar, Kurigram Sadar, Gaibandha Sadar, Lalmonirhat Sadar, Dinajpur Sadar, Thakurgaon Sadar, Nilphamari Sadar, Tungipara in Goplaganj, Rangamati Sadar, Bandarban Sadar, Khaghrachari Sadar, Pirojpur Sadar, Sharitpur Sadar, Jhalakathi Sadar, Sunamganj Sadar, Meherpur Sadar, Netrakona Sadar, Noakhali Sadar, Pabna Sadar and Patuakhali Sadar.
Currently the programme is going on at Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Sylhet and Comilla city corporations, reports BSS.
Besides, the cards will also be distributed at Savar on November 22, Narayanganj city on November 26 and Gazipur City Corporation on November 28, he said.
