‘Disqualify Jamaat, war criminals’ children in polls’

Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda demanding five-point including the disqualification of Jamaat and war criminals’ children in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Nirmul Committee President Shariar Kabir submitted the memorandum to the CEC at a meeting at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city.

Earlier, a meeting was held between CEC and the members of the Nirmul Committee.

Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, Justice Nizamul Haque, Freedom Fighter (Retd) Alamgir Sattar, Security Expert Major General (retd) Mohammad Abdur Rashid, Professor Muntasir Mamun, Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury, widow of Shaheed Dr Alim Chowdhury, Kazi Mukul, Barrister Nadia Chowdhury and EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, among others, were present in the meeting.

After the meeting, Shahriar Kabir told journalists that they demanded to the election commission for taking steps in this regard.
