Khulna city mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque has said disinfection tunnels to be set up in Khulna cattle markets to prevent community transmission of COVID-19.
“The cattle exuviate to be set up in accordance with the hygiene rules, no cattle market can be placed beside railway station and road side makeshift market”, he said.
“Everyone should be wearing masks before enter the market and to use hand sanitizer for disinfectants which to be kept in several points in the market,” the mayor added.
Khaleque made the remarks while presiding at a preparatory meeting on Thursday on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, reports BSS.
In addition, due to Covid-19 pandemic situation, this year, the city corporation has taken initiative to buy and sell animals at Zoragate Cattle Market where customers will buy both choosing physically and through online platform.
The meeting also discussed in overall situation about virtual sacrificial animals market and prohibited to use of walkie-talkies in the market. It also decided for infrastructure development including drainage system and filling of low lying areas and tight security at the cattle market.
Panel Mayor Md. Aminul Islam Munna, Councilors Md. Ali Akbar Tipu and Memory Sufia Rahman Shunu, Chairman of the Market Monitoring and Control Standing Committee Imam Hasan Chowdhury Moyna, Chief Executive Officer Palash Kanti Bala, Chief Revenue Officer Mohammad Monwar Hossain and other members of the committee were present at the meeting.
Later, the mayor handed over the high flow nasal canola to the officials of Khulna Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain, Director of KMCH Munshi Md. Reza Sekender, Vice-Principal of Khulna Medical College (KMC) Mehdi Newaz, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sujat Ahmed, President of Khulna Press Club SM Nazrul Islam, President of Khulna Union of Journalist (KUJ) Munshi Mahbub Alam Sohag, General Secretary of Press Club Mamun Reza, among others, were present.
