A child with a speech disability has allegedly been raped and murdered at Mymensingh’s Bhaluka upazila.
Police recovered the body of the child from Dhakirvita Forest near Panchgaon village at around 11:00 pm on Friday, said Bhaluka Police Station chief Mazharul Islam Sumon.
The deceased was identified as six-year-old Farzana Akhter, the daughter of Fazlul Haque.
Farzana went missing from her home at around 10:00 am on Friday, said OC Mazharul, citing her family. Her family informed police of the matter almost 12 hours later after they failed to find her.
“Police recovered her body from the woods near the village with a scarf coiling around her neck. We believe she was raped before she was killed.”
The girl’s father said that he has no enemies, reports bdnews24.
Police have yet to make an arrest over the case and have sent the body to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
