Direct train service on Dhaka-Panchagarh route begins

Direct train service on Panchagarh-Dhaka route began on Saturday aiming to ease communications with country's Northern district.

Additional Secretary of Railway Ministry Abul Kalam Azad formally inaugurated the train journey waving green flag at Panchagarh Railway Station around 7:30 am, reports UNB.

A train of Drutojan Express left Panchagarh station for Dhaka this morning, marking the first journey on the route, said Station Master Md Mosharraf Hossain.

Another train of Ekota Express was scheduled to leave Panchagarh Station around 9 pm, he added.

Bangladesh Railways Managing Director Kazi Md Rafiqul Alam, Panchagarh-2 constituency MP Advocate Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yesmin, additional Deputy Commissioner Md Golam Azam and district unit Awami League President Md Anwar Hossain Sahadat, among others, were present during the inaugural ceremony.
