Diarrhoea cases surging, 997 more hospitalised in 17 hours

As many as 997 more diarrhoea patients were admitted to the icddr,b, an international health research institute in Dhaka, in the last 17 hours till 5:00 pm on Friday.

AKM Tariful Islam Khan, media manager, icddr,b confirmed this to The Financial Express (FE).

The growing number of diarrhoea patients put the hospital under huge pressure, he said.

On-duty doctors, nurses and health staff are also struggling to deal with the increasing number of patients, Mr Tariful stated.

A total of 1,382 patients were admitted to the hospital on Thursday and 1,370 patients got admitted to the hospital on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, 1,379 diarrhoea patients got admitted to the icddr,b, while 1,383 on Monday and 1,171 on Sunday.
