'Dial 106 if any land official demands bribe'

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Commissioner Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed has requested all to dial hotline 106 if any staff of land office demands bribe in exchange of giving services.

“Stern action will be taken against unscrupulous officials and employees of the land office if they demand bribe for giving services,” he said.

The ACC commissioner was addressing a public hearing on services of Gulshan, Tejgaon, and Sutrapur sub-registry offices at Diploma Engineers Institute at Kakrail in Dhaka on Wednesday, reports BSS.

He also asked the district registrar to submit a report into a corruption allegation against a sub-registrar with seven days and ordered departmental action against him upon completion of the investigation.

The commission has been holding the public hearings aimed at ensuring better government services, he said, adding that the commission has been taking coordinated efforts against corruption to free the nation from the curse.

Among others, chief registrar M Abdul Mannan, district registrar Deepak Sarker, and ACC director of Dhaka divisional office Nasim Anwar spoke on the occasion.
