The blast from gas accumulated in a kitchen from a leaked cylinder line in Dhaka’s Dhamrai has claimed another life, taking the death toll to three.

Two other victims are fighting for their lives at the hospital, reports bdnews24.com.

Sadia Aktar, 19, succumbed to her burn wounds at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Tuesday afternoon.

She had suffered burns on 75 percent of her body, said SM Ayub Hossain, resident doctor of the institute.

The incident occurred in the Islampur area early on Saturday morning. The other victims are Md Manzurul Islam, 35, a garment worker, his wife Josna Begum, 25, their 2-year-old daughter Marium, and Josna’s sister Hosne Ara, 30. Sadia is Josna’s niece.

Josna, who had suffered burns on 70 percent of her body, died earlier on Tuesday while Marium was declared dead on Sunday night.

Manzurul has burns on 33 percent of his body and Hosne Ara on 25 percent of her body, according to Inspector Md Bachchu Miah at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost.

The blast occurred when Josna lit up a matchstick for the stove. The Fire Service and Civil Defence said gas accumulated in the kitchen as the doors and windows were closed overnight amid winter cold.
