A student of Dhaka University (DU) died after he fell off a coconut tree at its Jagannath Hall on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Barun Biswas, a second-year student of Applied Mathematics department.
DU Proctor Golam Rabbani said that Barun along with some of his friends went to pluck coconuts from the tree in front of the hall around 10:00 pm and suddenly fell from it.
His friends took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 11:30pm, the proctor added.
Hailing from Barishal district, Barun had been residing at October Memorial Building of the hall.
