January 18 has been fixed for filing nominations, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said while announcing the election schedule at his office on Tuesday.
Then the nominations will be scrutinised on January 21 and 22.
The deadline to withdraw candidacy is January 29.
Nurul Huda said, “The Election Commission is considering this election as of significant importance.”
“We expect support from all stakeholders. We hope this will be a vote festival,” he added.
Notably, a by-election must be held within 90 days of the seat falling vacant, as per the local government (City Corporation) laws
