Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan on Friday said rail route connecting the capital and eight northern districts via Gaibandha will be restored before Eid-ul-Azha.
“The repair work is going on in full swing,” he said while visiting the damaged rail tracks at Badiakhali in the district.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Md Abdul Matin and railway officials.
Dhaka’s rail communication with the northern part via Gaibandha remained suspended since June 17 due to flood triggered by torrential rain.
“It’ll be possible to restore the rail link if there’s no more flooding,” the minister said, reports UNB.
