Dhaka Ahsania Mission wins Tobacco Control Award-2018

Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) on Thursday got the Tobacco Control Award of this year in the institutional category for its outstanding contribution in tobacco control.

The award was given at a programme organised by Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) in its auditorium in city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area where State Minister for Health, Zahid Malek, was present as the chief guest.

Executive Director of DAM Dr Ehsanur Rahman received the award on behalf of the organisation.

The award includes a crest and cheque and it was given in two categories - institution and research.

For his contribution in research, National Professional Officer of World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr M Mostafa Zaman was awarded in the research category.

The special guest of the programme was National Professor and founder and president of the National Heart Foundation, Brigadier General (Retd) Abdul Malik and president of PKSF Qazi Kholiquzzaman presided over the ceremony.

PKSF Managing Director Mohammad Abdul Karim, General Manager (Operations) Dr Sharif Ahmed Chowdhury and National anti-tobacco platform coordinator Mahfuzur Rahman Bhuiyan was present in the ceremony.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health Sector Chief Iqbal Masud, representatives from different government and non-government organisations and media houses working with tobacco control activities were present in the programme, reports UNB.

Dhaka Ahsania Mission had been implementing anti-tobacco programs since 1990.
