Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday reported 34 deaths from the coronavirus (Covid-19), taking its total to 1,695.
Dr. Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the DGHS, said at an online media briefing that "3504 new Covid-19 positive cases and 34 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across the country."
"The total number of positive cases is now 133,978 and the death toll stands at 1,695," she added.
Among the deceased, 32 are men and the rest are women, while one was aged between 21-30, one was between 31-40, six between 41-50, six between 51-60, thirteen between 61-70, seven between 71-80 years old.
Thirteen deaths were from Dhaka division, ten from Chattogram, one from Khulna, four each from Rajshahi, and Sylhet, and the rest two were from Rangpur division.
Thirty people died in hospital, and four in their homes, the DGHS senior official added.
Simultaneously, 1,185 people recovered from the respiratory disease, bringing the overall number of recovery to 54, 318, Dr. Nasima said.
A total of 15,157 samples were tested in 58 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 712,098 samples have so far been tested in the country.
On Friday, 40 people died and 3,868 people tested positive for the highly infectious disease.
According to the state-run Directorate General of Health Services, 63,913 people now remain in both home and institutional quarantine while 14,267 others in isolation.
Globally, the virus has so far infected 9,925,777 people and killed 497,344 of them, according to Worldometer data.
Of the infected, 4,053,304 are currently being treated while 57,663 of them are in serious or critical condition, the website data shows.
