Devi Shetty arrives in Dhaka to examine Quader

Renowned cardiologist of India Dr Devi Shetty has arrived in Dhaka to examine the health condition of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, who has been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) with heart complications since Sunday.

A BSMMU delegation welcomed him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday noon.

They say they will take him straight to the hospital where he will give his opinion after examining Quader.

At 11:00 am on Monday, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif told reporters that the condition of Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, has improved.

But he will not be put off ventilator right now. Decision about this will be taken only after Dr Devi Shetty's assessesment about his health, he said.

As for Quader to be taken to Singapore, he said the medical board will decide about this, adding that BSMMU Vice Chancellor Professor Kanak Kanti Barua would brief the media about Quader's overall condition at 1:00 pm.

President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury have visited the MP from Noakhali at the specialised hospital.
