Detained edn ministry officials to face legal action: Nahid

The government will take legal steps against the two education ministry officials detained by law enforcers, said Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.

“Law enforcers have detained them so there must be allegations,” he told the media at the Secretariat on Monday.

“The allegations will be proven in court and they will be punished accordingly. We will take steps against them according to our system,” Nahid said.

“The government will move against them if they have taken bribes or committed some other offence,” the education minister said.

“Legal proceedings will be followed. If they are the perpetrators we will deal with them according to regulations,” he added.

Nahid said he would not be helping his personal officer.

The education minister’s personal officer Motaleb Hossain and ministry staffer Nasir Uddin were reported missing before police announced that they were in custody on Sunday.

Police also announced the arrest of Lakehead Grammar School owner Khaled Hasan Matin, who reportedly went missing few days ago.

Detective Branch Joint Commissioner Abdul Matin said Motaleb and Nasir were detained on charges of corruption while Khaled stands accused of funding militancy.

According to bdnews24, an education ministry official said that Motaleb and Nasir were involved in arranging the paperwork on the reopening of Lakehead.
