An oil-laden train was derailed in Sylhet's Fenchuganj area leaving the rail communication of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chattogram suspended, police said on Friday.
Confirming the matter, Md Safayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Fenchuganj Police Station, told The Financial Express that out of 20, eight tankers of the oil-laden train were derailed at Gutigaon area between Maijgaon and Bialibazar of Fenchuganj area around 11:55 pm on Thursday.
The fuel oil in the train wagon is spreading in the surrounding area including water-bodies leaving the risk of triggering fire incidents, he points out.
Oil is spreading in the area as there was no preserving system, the police officer added.
