The number of dengue cases in the country crossed 10,000-mark this year as 233 new patients or suspected victims were hospitalised during the last 24 hours until Monday morning.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in its regular bulletin said it recorded a total of 10,090 cases since the beginning of the current year.
Of the new patients, 213 were hospitalised in the capital city while the remaining 20 were in other parts of the country.
Dhaka division, excluding the capital city, reported 11 cases during the 24-hour period, followed by Mymensingh division four, Khulna division three, and Sylhet division two cases.
Currently, some 1,150 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in different public and private hospitals including 1,004 in Dhaka city and 146 elsewhere in the country.
As many as 8,895 patients were also released from the hospitals this year after they received treatment.
Though no death was reported during last the 24 hours, the DGHS registered 42 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease so far this year.
The country reported 7,432 cases in August while 2,286 in July, 272 in June and 43 in May and three in April.
