Defaulters pay Tk 2.3m fine for violating traffic rules

Traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in their simultaneous drives on the city streets on Tuesday filed 3551 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violation.

It also realised Tk 2.383 million as fine for traffic rule violation, said an official release of DMP.

Of the total cases, 212 cases were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 177 for using hydraulic horn, 24 for using hotter and beckon light and 30 others for using tinted glass.

Police filed 831 cases against motorcycles and seized 175 others.

Some 62 cases, including 22 video cases, were registered against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while they were driving, reports BSS.

It also dumped 34 vehicles and wrecked 661 others.
