The death reference of BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case has reached the High Court (HC) with a view to examining the trial’s court verdict.
Confirming the matter, Supreme Court spokesman and special officer Barrister Mohammad Saifur Rahman told The Financial Express that the death reference of Abrar murder case reached the High Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday.
On December 8 last year, a Dhaka court sentenced 20 people to death and five others to life imprisonment for killing Abrar.
On the death reference of any criminal case, the officials of the High Court generally prepare a paper book after scrutinising the case documents as per the relevant laws.
BUET student Abrar had criticised the government’s water-sharing deal with India on Facebook.
He was subsequently taken to the room of a BCL leader on the night of Oct 6, 2019, and killed.
