A US Bangla Airlines employee and a passenger was held at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) along with 32 gold bars on Tuesday.
Customs preventive team at the HSIA detained- Md Arifuzzaman Palash, 33 a driver of US Bangla Airlines and passenger Hasan Mohammad Mohasin Chowdhury in the morning.
Acting on a tip-off, a custom team conducted a drive in the airport around 8:00 am and arrested the duo along with the gold bars worth Tk 18.60 million, official said.
Necessary legal steps would be taken under the Customs Act, the custom official, Othello Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of the Customs Preventive Team, said.
Earlier, the passenger landed at the airport by an aircraft of US Bangla Airlines (BS322) from Oman via Chattogram in the morning, reports UNB.
