Cumilla firing leaves robber dead

An alleged robber was killed in a firing over a failed bid by his fellow gang members to rescue him from a mob in Gumkot village of Nangalkot upazila in Cumilla early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Delowar Hossain, 25.

Officer-in-charge of Nangalkot Police Station Mohammad Ayub said in the early hours, a gang of robbers attacked a house of Gumkot village while the neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing screaming of the victims.

The locals caught one of the robbers, Delowar, from the spot and gave him a good beating with others managing to escape.

Later, the robber gang returned to the spot for rescuing their fellow and open fired on the locals, leaving three including, Delwar, bullet hit.

The injured were taken to the Cumilla Medical College and Hospital, but Delwar succumbed to his injuries. A case was filed in this regard, reports UNB.
