Cumilla arson case: Hearing on Khaleda’s bail plea on Jan 7

A Cumilla court on Sunday fixed January 7 for hearing on a bail petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed over the arson attack in Chouddagram upazila in the district in 2015 that claimed lives of eight people.

Cumilla District and Sessions Judge KM Shamsul Alam passed the order when the state counsel filed a petition seeking time, reports UNB.

The court earlier rejected the bail petition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the case for several times.

On July 23, the High Court directed the Comilla Court to dispose of the bail petition filed by Khaleda within July 26.

On July 17, Khaleda Zia filed a petition before the court seeking bail in the case.  Eight people were killed and 20 others injured when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram of Cumilla district during the BNP-led alliance's movement on February 3, 2015.
