Members of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police have arrested the son-in-law of Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, executed killer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, from Dhaka city’s Hatirjheel area on charges of posting derogatory comments against Bangabandhu on Facebook.

Fuad Zaman, the husband of Shehnaz Rashid Khan, daughter of Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, was detained on Wednesday night, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The team also seized his mobile phone, the official added.

On August 15, Fuad, in a Facebook post, praised the killers of Bangabandhu and sought the salvation of those departed souls, police said, adding that he also termed the killing as a ‘good job’.

Later on August 30, a case was filed with Dhanmondi Police Station under the ICT Act, reports UNB.

Fuad will be produced before a court with seven-day remand prayer, said the Deputy Commissioner.

Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan was executed on January 27, 2010.
