Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Moulvibazar in Teknaf upazila's Hneela union in Cox’s Bazar early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Mahamudur Rahman, 28, son of Miah Hossain, resident of Ali Akbar Para, and Mohammad Ashraf, 25, son of Nurul Islam, a resident of Noyapara.

Bullets and 10,000 pieces Yaba pills were also recovered from the spot, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station.

A UNB report said quoting the official that a team of police conducted a drive in the area after being tipped off about the presence of a drug traders' gang.

"They opened fire as soon as the police team reached the site, triggering a skirmish," the OC said. "We recovered bodies of two drug traders after the gunfight."
