Two leaders of the Rohingya community in refugee camp in Ukhyia upazila of Cox’s Bazar district were killed in separate incidents within 12 hours.
The deceased in the latest incident was identified as Mohammad Selim, 35, son of Abdus Sobhan, a sub-majhi (deputy head) of Balukhali camp in Ukhiya, according to UNB.
He was shot dead by unknown assailants in the early hours of Sunday.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali, officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police Station, said a group of miscreants called Selim out of the camp and opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Earlier on Saturday evening, Rashid Ahmed, head majhi of a different camp, was stabbed to death.
