Two including extremist leader killed in Pabna

Two people including the leader of an extremist party were chopped and shot to death over establishing upper hand at Ataikula of Pabna on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Abdul Gafur, 55, son of Dabir Uddin of the same village and regional leader of Purba Bangla Communist Party, and Idris Ali, 42, a local stationary shop owner.

Additional Police Super of Pabna district Goutam Kumar Biswas said a group of armed miscreants numbering 10/12 swooped on Gafur around 7pm on Sunday while he was taking tea at a local tea stall.

The hoodlums exploded bombs to spread fear in the area and started stabbing Gafur indiscriminately and finally shot him to death on the spot.

The shop owner Idris Ali also sustained bullet injuries during the attack. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

On information, police recovered the bullet-hit body from the spot said officer in charge of Ataikula Police Station Masud Rana. "Investigation is on to comprehend the reasons behind the killing."
