A court in Jhenaidah sentenced three people to life term imprisonment on Wednesday in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
The lifers are Sujon, son of Intaj Ali, Ekramul Shah alias Sentu, son of Ayub Ali and Keshto Sarkar, son of Nimai Sarkar of Maheshpur upazila. All of them were tried in absentia.
The court also fined Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more in rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, police arrested three people along with 82 bottles of phensidyl syrup from Begumpur area in Maheshpur upazila on September 16, 2013, UNB reported.
After examining records and witnesses, Additional Session Judge Golam Azam handed down the verdict.
