Man dies in 'shootout' with RAB

A man has been killed in an alleged shootout with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Cox’s Bazar amid the nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking in Bangladesh.

The incident occurred near the Palli Electricity Office Road in Teknaf early on Friday morning, said RAB-7 Cox’s Bazar Camp Company Commander Major Md Mehedi Hassan.

The deceased has been identified as Azizul Haque, who wails from Dhaka’s Savar, reports bdnews24.

RAB say they have recovered 65,000 yaba tablets, a pistol, and three rounds of ammunition from the scene.

RAB officials did not make any statements about the details concerning the shootout or the victim.
