A physically challenged young girl was reportedly violated by his neighbour at Mahishamura village in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
Locals said Shahidul Islam stormed the house of their neighbour at afternoon and violated the girl, aged around 24, when there was no other member at the house.
Hearing screams, locals rushed in and rescued the girl while Shahidul fled the scene, reports UNB.
The victim was sent to Sadar Hospital for medical test, said Nurul Islam, officer-in-charge (operations) of Sadar Police Station.
He also said they were investigating the incident.
